WDL is proud to announce our re-imagined flagship leadership program, Women In Power. As our marquee initiative, this program represents the evolution of our work and the rapidly changing political landscape.
In this moment, we believe that when women come together, combining their diverse perspectives and experiences, they create something exponentially more powerful. That’s the fusion we’re accelerating with Women In Power – bringing together brilliant elected women to catalyze democratic innovation at a time when it’s needed most.
What makes Women in Power different?
– A five-month intensive experience designed specifically for our community of elected women
– Two immersive in-person retreats
– Monthly virtual workshops on critical skills like crisis communications and media training
– Collaborative capstone projects focused on institutional modernization
– A supportive community for diverse women in elected office
– Personalized safety planning and sustainable leadership practices
Important Dates and Deadlines
Monday, March 24: Applications open (avg. completion time: 25-30 mins)
Friday, April 4, 3-4pm ET: Optional virtual information session
April 7-21: Virtual interviews (no longer than 30 mins)
Thursday, April 17: Final day to submit applications
Friday, April 25: Selected cohort members notified
Wednesday, June 4 – Saturday, June 7: In-person retreat in Austin, TX
Biweekly: Virtual meetings in small groups (capstone projects)
Monthly: Virtual meetings with full group (workshops, community-building, cohort check-ins)
Wednesday, October 15 – Saturday, October 18: In-person closing retreat, location TBD
