Last year, the Apolitical Foundation conducted an international study on politicians’ mental wellbeing, using the robust Short Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale. They shared their findings and recommendations for systemic changes in their December 2023 report “Mere Mortals”. Though the study was across genders, it also shows a clear need to protect women electeds in particular. Notably, two of our WDL alums participated in this study: Councilor Johana Bencomo and Kansas State Rep. Christina Haswood!
