We anticipate that the upcoming 2024 presidential election will be more volatile than years past, with even more urgency to provide immediate, mid-term, and long-term solutions to address the escalating threats faced by Indigenous women and women of color in politics. As a call to action, we created our short impact film “Elected and Unsafe” – which we will share strategically throughout the year in order to open up conversations around collective solution building. On February 8, 2024, we screened “Elected and Unsafe” in Washington, DC in a room with partner orgs, allies, and funders. We also hosted a discussion panel led by WOC elected officials who are also WDL program alumni. As a collective, we collaborated as thought partners to brainstorm additional practical, real-life solutions to add to WDL’s safety work, which we will be expanding throughout 2024. Read through our event summary to see what was discussed during this convening.
